Message to clients:
Therapy at its best offers a listening ear, a loving heart, a vision of hope, and a pathway forward.
Even with the best of intentions, we can all get caught in behavior patterns, thought patterns, or relational patterns that do not serve us well.
Together in our sessions we will identify the challenges you face, and your most important goals. You will learn information and skills that will help empower you to move forward. Therapy does involve work because growth requires effort. Outside of sessions you will be invited to act in ways that will help you live into new patterns that will serve you, and your relationships well.
Kira’s areas of expertise and experience:
Adolescence and parenting. Over the past 17 years Kira has been working with teenagers and/or their parents in various capacities. She is passionate about helping young people become their best and cultivate constructive relationships with their parents. She has also taught an all day seminar for parents working to improve the relationship with their teenage children. Watching parents and their teens’ relationships improve has been one of Kira’s greatest joys.
Anxiety and depression. Kira has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).
Trauma healing. Kira helps her clients transition from coping with the effects of trauma to truly healing from trauma.
Couples and Family Therapy. Kira is a trained Arbinger facilitator and can help you and your family identify and shift dynamics that invite conflict, as well as gain awareness about areas of “self-deception.” We all have blind spots, but it is much more difficult for us to see our own blind spots than those of others. Kira can help you and your family member(s) gain insight, and practice new patterns that invite peace instead of conflict. Kira is also trained in the Gottman couples therapy approach and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy).
Grief and loss. The deep feelings associated with loss are a reflection of the love that was present in life. Grief work helps clients continue to honor the life of the one you love, while also finding healthy ways to move forward.
