LDS CAPA Quarterly Training Series

The LDS CAPA (formerly AMCAP) Quarterly Training Series are a set of virtual trainings available to current members. Pulling from our membership to share expertise and experience with one another,  these trainings will cover topics from therapy modalities and techniques to business strategies. They will typically be recorded and posted on the member-only section of our website. When possible, we plan to offer CEUs through these trainings as well.

If you are interested in learning more or in presenting for a training, please reach out to amcapsecretary@gmail.com.

Grieving the Loss of Relationship: How Betrayal Trauma Influences Mindset, Behavior, Healing, and How to Help

Trampas J. Rowden, PhD, CMHC & Ashly Leavitt, MS, ACMHC

Presentation Summary: To be trauma-informed is to be informed by the real-time lived experience of the clients in front of you – what their reality is, and what their needs are – beyond even trauma information you’ve gained in conferences and trainings. This is especially true when clients are experiencing loss associated with betrayal trauma. This presentation will help you understand what’s happening in brain and body related to betrayal trauma, why your client(s) might seem great one minute and ‘crazy’ the next when experiencing it, how such experience influences and is influenced by loss in intimate relationships, and how as clinicians to help clients in navigating such complexity.
