I feel the therapeutic experience I engage in, is about others personal growth. I enjoy working with individuals in finding the areas in their life that are not working well and see how we can best improve and encourage further development in facing life’s challenges. My approach to therapy uses a combination of cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, strength-based, solution focused, mindfulness and positive psychology. Making the decision to work with a therapist is not an easy one. There are times it can feel uncomfortable being asked to share your personal experiences with someone you have never met. Because of this feeling I practice hard not to judge the choices others make in their lives or the feelings they are having.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Utah. I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix and have been counseling for 10 years. While in graduate school, I did a concentration study in substance abuse earning a certificate from the University of Utah school of Social Work Substance Abuse Treatment Training. I also have received training in Seeking Safety, a treatment for PTSD. I have received training in CBT and Mindfulness. I have trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and use this technique in my practice regularly. I also have experience in the criminal justice system with adults and juveniles. While working in these areas I have been able to engage with clients who have a variety of concerns. These include addiction, grief and loss, anger management, conflict resolution, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, transitions in life due to aging and dealing with isolation due to covid 19.
I promise to be present, compassionate, non-judgmental, upbeat, and dedicated to helping you move through your challenges. I am trained in the special considerations needed when working with the bereaved, first responders, diversity factors, and members across the faith spectrum.
