I am an owner and therapist at Bountiful Counseling, a private practice in Bountiful, Utah. I provide individual therapy, couples counseling, and supervision and consultation. As well, I run long term interpersonal process therapy groups for adults and for therapists in Utah who want to grow and learn more about themselves. Therapists in our private practice provide in person and online mental health services for individuals, couples, and families of all ages in the community.
I help people with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationship problems. I completed my masters of counseling at the University of Utah in 2010 and my PhD in counselor education and supervision at Oregon State University in 2022. My dissertation topic was about understanding the theocentric worldview of those with a Latter-day Saint religious or spiritual background for the purpose of effective multicultural counseling.
My approach is warm, compassionate and accepting. I completed certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and am completing certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. My approach includes a focus on the mind, body, and spirit of the person and on emotional and relationship needs and longings as well.
I am a past president and member of the Utah Mental Health Counselors Association (UMHCA) and am a member of the American Mental Health Counselor Association (AMHCA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW), the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), plus the Association of Latter-day Saint Counselors and Psychotherapists (AMCAP).
I was born in southern California, raised in Bountiful, Utah, and currently live with my family in North Salt Lake. I like to learn and think and to continue to grow myself, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I like to spend time with family and friends, like spending time outdoors, enjoy running, biking, and swimming for exercise, and recently have been learning that in addition to cardio, it also helps to lift weights.
