My Practice and Areas of Specialty
In my practice, I see clients from the tween years on up and work with individuals, couples, and families. I work with a variety of issues but primarily focus in two areas.
First, I specialize in working with relationship issues. Often, that means marital or premarital counseling but I also work with extended family issues and parenting of tweens and teens. From boundaries and communication to unmet expectations and conflicting dream, I help people build the relationships they want.
The second area I specialize in is sexuality. This is unfortunately an area that too many other therapists don’t have adequate training and experience working with and consequently cannot effectively work with. I help people address all aspects of sexuality they may be unhappy with including affairs, painful sex, performance issues, desire discrepancies, unwanted/out-of-control sexual behaviors (sometimes called sexual addiction), sexual attraction or orientation, the effects of aging or medical issues on sexuality, and other issues.
My Clinical Work:
I make use of a variety of methods, skills, and techniques as I work with clients and these often differ based on what challenges each client has in their life. Some clients need more work around practical skills, some more with confronting flawed thoughts and assumptions, and others need to just talk about difficult times in life.
I see our sexuality as a gift from our Heavenly Father and so consequently I take a sex-positive approach with my clients. Even when addressing unwanted behaviors, we focus on building positive, healthy sexuality. My clients find this approach to be refreshingly upbeat, encouraging, and effective.
A Bit About Me:
Outside of work, my family is my biggest passion. My wife and I have been happily married for 17 years and have four beautiful children. We enjoy spending time together, whether playing board games, doing home improvements, or getting away in the beautiful outdoors of Colorado.
