I am a past president of the American Psycological Associations Division 36: Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality and have trained students at Loyoyla University Maryland , Brigham Young University, Provo, and Universidad Iberoamerican Ciudad, Mexico how to work with the intersections of spirituality and mental health. I have published several books, book chapters and articles and have been invited as a keynote speaker in national and international settings on the topic. I have also served as a diversity chair in departments at Loyola and BYU and as a board member over diversity for Loyola's clinics. My work with people from diverse backgrounds and in international settings has increased my understanding of the complexity and culturally-grounded nature of mental health as well as enhanced my empathy and practice abilities for a wide range of struggles and disorders.
As a scientist-practitioner trained psychologist, I focus on the social, historical, contextual and neurological aspects of mental health through collaborative conversations and treatment planning. I use CBT, CPT, trauma-focused and culturally-sensitive modalities. Using evidence-based practices, I will create a tailored treatment plan to address your mental health, relationships, and pathway towards resilience. I conduct individual and group therapy for adults and teens.
