Dr. Chad J. Kelland is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Missouri. He currently has a private practice in Lexington, Virginia and is the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services at Southern Virginia University, an accredited LDS aligned private, 4-year liberal arts university in Buena Vista, Virginia.

Dr. Kelland completed his undergraduate in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Psychology at New York Institute of Technology. He then earned a Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Chapman University. Dr. Kelland earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychologist from the APA accredited program at the American School of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Kelland’s master’s level training included practicum and internship at a transitional living center for victims of domestic violence, a private high school, a community based mental health center, LDS Family Services, and two private practices. He completed his doctoral level practicum at Saddleback College, his APA accredited internship at University of California Riverside’s Counseling & Psychological Services, and his residency/fellowship at the University of Missouri, St. Louis’ Community Psychological Services. Following his residency, he worked for a year at Federally Qualified Health Center and then moved on to Southern Virginia University.

Dr. Kelland specializes in psychological assessment and diagnosis, individual psychotherapy, and couples therapy. His dissertation, a qualitative study, titled Saints, Sexuality, and Psychotherapy: Clinical Considerations of Sexual Behavior in Latter-day Saints won an award for Clinical Research Project Excellence.

Dr. Kelland has presented to various audiences over 25 times and also teaches as an adjunct professor in psychology at Southern Virginia University.
