I rely on the power of connection to help heal the pain one is experiencing and create positive changes. I love helping people become more aware of who they are and how they experience life. I find that this new awareness allows them to be more effective in using skills to create a balanced and content life.
When working with couples, I implement Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to change negative patterns and move into a place of security and connection. This type of therapy is helpful in rebuilding trust and deepening attachment. With adolescents, I believe it is important to keep the caretakers informed and involved to foster the healing process.
I also specialize in trauma therapy. I have advanced training in EMDR, which allows clients to process traumatic events. I understand how even “little” traumas can impact how we see ourselves. By helping clients develop self-compassion and acceptance, it allows them to eliminate feelings of shame and develop a powerful sense of self-worth.
After 25 years of marriage and still in the middle of raising 5 kids, I believe that the changes we make will impact those around us.
