Hi!
I’m Carrie Cook and I have a love for helping individuals and couples successfully work through life’s challenges. Whether you’re having problems with your teenager or are struggling with personal or relationship issues yourself, I have experience working with families, couples and individuals to successfully achieve the goal of moving forward toward healthier relationships and a happier life.
My Story
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from Brigham Young University, a Master’s Degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Collaborative Divorce, equipping me with a diverse skill set to support my clients effectively.
With a background as a public-school teacher and college adjunct instructor, I connect easily with teens and college students and bring extensive experience in working with them as they maneuver through the challenges they face during these transitional times in their lives.
In addition to working with teenagers and young adults, I enjoy supporting senior adults and caregivers. Older adults and caregivers are often overlooked in seeking and receiving support. I have a special love for those in this category. I have personal and professional experience in helping those who are caring for parents or grandparents with dementia and other issues that come with aging. If you are an older adult experiencing grief or depression or a caregiver in need of support, let me help. I have the ability to help individuals find hope when it seems that hope is lost.
My clinical focus encompasses supporting clients through a wide range of issues, such as couples therapy, women's issues (including postpartum challenges, infertility and loss, coping with divorce), depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, self-harm, life transitions, trauma, bipolar, anger management, addiction, and abandonment. I am dedicated and skilled in developing tailored solutions to address your unique challenges and aspirations.
As a therapist trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I empower my clients with practical coping skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. I also integrate Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy to create a personalized therapeutic experience. These evidence-based techniques allow you to express your feelings, reframe your thoughts, address negative thought patterns and behaviors, and find meaning in your experiences. My goal is to help you discover and embrace your best self. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or unheard, I can help. I believe in the power of storytelling and encourage my clients to explore their narratives as a means of inspiration and self-discovery. I firmly believe it’s never too late to rewrite your story and cultivate a healthier, happier life.
Let’s embark on this transformative journey together!
