Services
I currently offer teletherapy services to adolescents (15+), individual adults, and couples. While I see a variety of issues, I enjoy working with clients struggling with:
- anxiety issues (general anxiety, OCD tendencies, scrupulosity)
- identity discovery (faith transitions, sexual/gender identity, understanding family patterns)
- life transition distress (grief/loss, family role/career change)
- relationship issues (premarital counseling, communication issues, disconnection)
Education
My background in systemic training started with my undergraduate degree in intercultural peacebuilding (conflict resolution) at Brigham Young University - Hawaii. In addition to my bachelor’s degree, I earned a certificate in intercultural mediation through a program that developed my ability to recognize and manage dynamics of conflict within the context of cultures. I earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy through rigorous and theory-focused courses at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. My graduate training focused on couple conflict, childhood trauma, and working with anxiety and depression. I am also certified as a Seven Principles Leader from the Gottman Institute.
Experience
Much of my work as a therapist has been in large group practices, focusing on LDS, transitioning, and non-LDS communities. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, OCD tendencies, scrupulosity/religious OCD, ADHD, acculturation, LGBTQ+ issues, childhood trauma and abuse, and faith transitions. My focus is to help clients build healthy relationships with themselves and others around them through self-compassion and vulnerability.
On a more personal note…
I am a native to the Seattle area, and a proud daughter of hard-working immigrants. One of my siblings has autism and is non-verbal, which has greatly shaped our family's life and perspective. My husband and I married in 2017 and we just had our first baby in February, 2022. We also have a fur baby, a fluffy Samoyed named Supi. Our favorite pastimes include traveling and thinking about what we are going to have for our next meal. Although most of my time is consumed with our adorable baby, I also have recently taken up gardening which has been an amazing way to connect with nature at home.
