NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT--WEBSITE LAUNCH POSTPONED
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the launching of AMCAP’s new website will be delayed until probably February of 2013. One of the priorities of our website redesign was to consolidate four AMCAP databases into one central, fully automated database. As we got closer to launching the new website, it became obvious that this goal had not been accomplished. We had to go back to the drawing board and get some additional professional help to meet our goals. Redesigning the website and reconstructing the database is long overdue. This matter has been on the AMCAP board agenda for nearly 5 years, now. We underestimated the scope of the project but are determined to get it right and we are really looking forward to how the new website and database will serve our membership in a much more efficient and up-to-date manner. In the meantime, we want you to know that AMCAP is moving forward--not as rapidly as we might like--but we ARE moving forward. Our current website is still working and I invite you to check the website, now and again, for updates on AMCAP business, Chapter activities, events, and news. We invite you to go to our FaceBook page--ldsamcap--to share comments on the articles in the new journal and on other topics relevant to our membership. . Good things can take time to grow. Thanks for your patience. Warmly, Lili Anderson President, AMCAP
P.S. Please check out our FaceBook page--ldsamcap--for details about an AMCAP and FAR (Foundation for Attraction Research) sponsored event concerning same-gender attraction in Provo, Utah on Saturday, November 17th. We invite you to share this information with anyone you think might be interested.

Opportunity for short-term Missionary assignment in Sydney, Australia:
LDS Family Services is looking for a missionary couple who would be willing to serve a 12-18 month "short-term" assignment in Sydney, Australia. The current director, Graham Hancock, is retiring after over 30 + years of faithful service, and his retirement begins at the end of next month. This assignment would have the following priorities: a) Identify suitable potential successors for the job, and help to prepare and train someone to assume the reigns at the end of their term of service;
b) While accomplishing a) above, identify suitable community resource providers for use by local priesthood leaders. This will help take the pressure off of LDSFS providing high levels of direct service;
c) Help local priesthood leaders through consultative services. Help the priesthood utilize consultation more frequently, rather than relying on providing high levels of direct service;
d) Provide some direct counseling services for cases where our involvement is indicated, and where community resources are not providing this service (Working with in-field missionaries, SGA, pornography and sexual addiction work, covenant marriage issues, and personal issues experienced by priesthood and their families)
e) Help to support and encourage growth and maturity of the Addiction Recovery Program.
Preference would probably be given to former LDS Family Services staff who know our system, but other clinical experience would be considered. Maturity and leadership would be a must.
This is not a paid position.
