Pre-Convention, April 1 PDF Print E-mail

In these tough economic times, would you like a great way to round out your practice?

Have you ever considered being, or been called upon to be, an expert witness?
Do you wonder what it takes to be an Expert Witness or how to do it well? Would you like to be prepared?

You have a wonderful opportunity to learn about being a great expert witness at the April Pre-Convention.

Dr. Mark Zelig, ABPP Certified in Forensic and Clinical Psychology, has kindly consented (after last conventions very well received presentation) to offer a thorough workshop on being an expert witness. You have the opportunity to learn from this expert of experts!

In this informative presentation you will learn your role as a mental health professional in an "unfamiliar setting". Well thought out and structured, Dr. Zelig will walk you step-by-step from informed consent and assessment all the way to preparing for and being in the courtroom.

 You will learn about:

  •  the ethics and standards of practice,
  • assessment issues,
  • malingering,
  • civil procedure
  • court room preparation and much more.

This workshop is currently scheduled to begin Wednesday, April 1at 9:00 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30.

Without AMCAP Convention registration the cost is $40.   Your lunch is freely included.

With your convention registration the cost of this presentation is only $25! Your lunch is still freely included. :-)

With or without full convention registration, you will get a great amount of useful information and a collaborative learning experience at a very affordable rate.

If you are even considering attending the pre-convention, let us know right away. The deadline is almost here. Preparations of handouts and lunch orders are in process. You don't want to miss this opportunity. Notify us of your intent to attend by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Directions To Spring 2009 AMCAP Pre-convention

470 South Mario Cappechi Drive (formerly Wasatch Dr.)

From Downtown SLC

Take 400 S going east. You will pass Rice-Eccles Stadium and shortly thereafter the road will swing to the right. Turn left on Mario Cappechi Drive (formerly Wasatch Drive). There is a building on the corner of Foothill and Wasatch and this is NOT the building you are going to.

The NEXT Church building on the left is the one we’re located in. You can park in the parking lot between the two buildings or proceed and take a left right after the building we’re meeting in on Research Road. This is the road behind the Institute and there is parking there.

You can also take the University TRAX line and get off at the Institute and walk south behind the building and find us in the chapel referred to above.

The address is 470 South Mario Cappechi Drive, and the Salt Lake University 5th ward meets there.  For more detailed directions you can go to mapquest.com and type in the address, or you can go to maps.lds.org and type in the address and you will have a map to the site.  Notice the parking to the north and west of the building.
